About our unique bowls & vases

All the handmade wooden bowls and vases, showcased here on our website, are available for immediate delivery (subject to availability) or can be collected (saving postage and packing) from our Sussex Oak Furniture Showroom and Art Gallery.

We describe these beautiful bowls and vases as ‘unique’ because that's exactly what they are.

Or, to put it another way, there is only one of each in the world.

They are painstakingly hand turned and finished, in England, by a professional woodturner, using rare burr oak, elm, walnut, maple, acacia, spalted beech and other exotic woods. The sheer quality of craftsmanship is clearly evident; how the wood of many of the pieces is turned almost paper thin, how the vases are fully hollowed out inside (from tiny apertures), how the skilled eye has brought out the very best shapes from the natural characteristics of the wood and how the practised hand has achieved such silky smooth polished surfaces.

No matter what the size or shape, they stand on their own as stunning pieces of tactile art.

We also believe they are fantastic value for money. Very similar quality pieces have been recently exhibited at the del Mano gallery in Los Angeles by the celebrated woodturner/artist Bert Marsh (see http://www.delmano.com/exhibitions/2010/mainExhibitions/BertMarsh2/exhibition_01.htm), at prices between $350 and $1,295.
