Four poster bed in early Tudor style. Handmade in solid oak and hand carved with linenfold headboard panels and parchemin panels to the tester ceiling, with four enriched parchemin panels at the centre. Tudor cresting around the cornice rails and punched decoration to the headboard and tester framework. Hand cut slow spiral twists to the four posts (this is a true four poster as the headboard is set in from the posts).

Our Belgium clients wanted falconry devices carved onto the square 'knops' on all four posts and supplied us with a number of photos from books and delft tiles for us design them. There are nine different designs strategically placed around the posts, as well as the personal initials of the owners, facing the headboard. Another personal touch is a small incised cross on the top rail of the headboard.

We also supplied the wrought iron hanging rails, complete with supporting staples, as well as the beautiful iron finials on top of the posts, all hand forged by our blacksmith and suitably aged.

This bed was designed to take a very deep 'super king size' Swedish mattress set and was based on a similar bed, hand built from old reclaimed oak, by Nicholas Berry in the late 1990's. Our original client very kindly allowed us access to show the bed to our Belgium clients before they placed their order. As with all our bespoke Chalvington range this piece can be ordered to take a king size or smaller mattress. It is intended that this bed will be suitably furnished, with period style fabrics for the bedspread and hangings, at a later date. Price excludes mattress etc.
