A good example of how we fill a gap left by our 16th, 17th and 18th century forebears. Even if you're a died-in-the-wool collector of original early oak pieces, you'd be hard pushed to find a coffee table from any of those periods, or even a lamp table for that matter. Joined stools make great little lamp tables, but at �£2,000 to �£25,000 for a good antique, they're out of reach for most peoples pockets.
