Click to View Products by CategorySarah Paget works from her studio in rural Sussex, drawing on the inspiration of the surrounding countryside which nourishes her creative process. As an Artist, Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, and Creativity Facilitator, Sarah’s focus is with her own and others’ creative processes believing strongly in the healing powers of the arts. She studied fine art painting at Central St.Martins, in London, won first prize in the 1995 Cecil Collins drawing competition, and has exhibited in galleries, art fairs and artists’ open house schemes, in London, and locally. Much of her work is in private collections.
Artist's Statement:
This series of paintings draws on Sarah’s love of colour, texture and a preoccupation with organic shapes and mark making. The use of gold leaf emerged from travelling in Nepal and Thailand and indicates Sarah’s interest in surfaces upon which light can dance, play and reflect. Her work involves a gradation of surfaces that hold in them the history of previous layers and mark-making, while also providing disguise or serving to subtly reveal. Sarah delights in working with the uncertainty of not knowing where her paintings will lead her and allowing them the freedom to find their own form, colours and content. She says: “It is this continual process of stepping into the unknown to search, find, lose and find again, that keeps alive in me the magic of painting. I continually find myself newly realising the depth and abundance we can tap into when we connect with our creative source and in doing so I wish to convey a joy and excitement of expression in my work.â€
Early Oak Reproductions are particularly pleased to be exhibiting Sarahs paintings in their Sussex furniture showroom/art gallery and feel that these richly coloured abstracts will have particular appeal to our clients who love mixing old and new, especially when these innovative pieces of art are grouped together in two's and four's, for maximum effect.
