About Zan Stevenson

Following a career as a freelance architect, Zan is now,at last, free to paint. The English countryside and coast are her local inspiration; but she is also very keen to depict the different scenes, places and atmospheres found on her many travels abroad.

The use of colour, which Zan sees in everything - literally hundreds of varying hews, of which we may be unaware - is her chief preoccupation. It is the varying shades and subtleties that exist in both bright and muted colours which, when juxtaposed, appear to change in different lights. It is these that Zan uses to brilliant effect and in her own individual style, to describe the atmosphere of a particular place.
