Hand cut period style dovetail joint, on the linenfold drawer of our Chalvington oak bedside cupboard. These are called 'half blind dovetails', in that they stop short of going right through to the front of the drawer, i.e  they are visible only from the side. They take more work to cut, than 'through dovetails', but are necessary in this case, as there is no applied front on the drawer to cover them. Sometimes, particularly in modern work, they are deliberately on show for decorative reasons, but that wouldn't be appropriate here.
