All the furniture in our Wilmington range is custom made. So whether you’re ordering a small joined stool, or a whole suite of furniture, it will be handmade and finished, solely for you. This way, we can fine tune any design and details to your exact requirements (it may interest you to know that around 70% of our clients make use of this benefit, often at the same, or close to, our standard price). There are other advantages to this. For example, if access to a room is particularly tight, we can build your piece in manageable components, which then neatly fit together in the designated place.
The oak used in our Wilmington range furniture tends to be a bit less heavy in character, than our Chalvington range, but will still have a fairly wild grain and maybe the odd knot or small crack. Much of the antique look is applied during the finishing process. Do bear in mind that each oak tree is different and the boards cut from a single tree will also differ in grain pattern and overall appearance. After all, that is much of the appeal of most natural timbers and, in particular, oak.
You can choose from a range of standard colour shades and ageing options and these can be fine-tuned to your own personal taste. If you opt for an ‘Lightly Aged’ look, we will select the cleanest oak possible. By clean, we mean a more straight grain, virtually free from knots etc. If you have existing furniture that you want us to match, in terms of colour and ageing, we can do this for you. We will need to borrow a piece of your furniture to copy and there may be a small additional charge for this.
