An oak 18th century style 'box' settle. A particularly useful piece as the lower section doubles as a storage chest, with part of the planked seat forming the lid. This type of settle dates back to medieval times, although few have survived earlier than the 17th century. It is the following century, to which this piece is based, with its 'ogee' carved fielded back panels, shaped tops to the rear legs, down-swept arms and baluster style turnings.
From our Chalvington bespoke range, so we can make it to other dimensions, as well as detail alterations, if need be. Contact Early Oak Reproductions with your requirements or for further information. For other styles of settle, see our Settles and Benches overview page. It is also available in fruitwood.
