How we get impossibly large furniture into tiny cottages

Case study - A furniture accessibility question.

Two clients, one in Somerset, the other in Oxfordshire. Both with the same furniture aspirations and both with the same challenge and one that may apply to you.

Here's how we did it:

A beautiful period style oak linen press, that's custom made in 'kit form', to dismantle into thirteen pieces, so that it can be easily carried up tight staircases and through tight doorways. (Don't worry, we won't be expecting you to do this!)

Below we see the lower drawer assembly in the dining room of our Oxfordshire client's cottage, minus the plinth and about to be carefully split in half.

One half now up the stairs and into our clients dressing room. Shown here resting on the plinth assembly.

The right half now installed on the plinth, and waist moulding re-fitted. Clever stuff so far!

All the base drawers now inserted.

Now one half of the wardrobe section ready to be maneuvered carefully up the staircase. 

Both halves of the wardrobe section in place. Just the cornice assembly to go.

Note that in both of the above cases, we actually delivered and installed the linen presses, and this personal service is included in the price, as long as it's a reasonable distance from our showroom. Which the likes of Somerset and Oxford is!
