Rail carving detail, also showing the carved capitals to the pedestal support legs and turned pendants, on our 16th century Elizabethan style handmade oak console table. The rail carving, known as 'gadrooning', with contrasting central and end detail, is applied over the structural rails and was a popular form of decoration on furniture during the latter half of the 1500's.
