16th century style Caqueteuse oak chairs

Wilmington Range

Caqueteuse chairs (chaire caqueteuse or chaise de femme) originated from France in the early 16th century and were supposedly for use by women, the term literally meaning gossiping chair! They are characterised by the narrow back, wide front and trapezoidal seat.

The side chair and armchair shown here, are available and priced as separate items. Please see drop down box below. We can make up cushions for solid seats, from your own material. We can make them piped or unpiped, foam filled (deep) or more traditional rubberised hair (pancake slab), reversable for longer life with zipped or hand-stitched removable covers.
