Early 16th century style boarded oak aumbry, or sometimes referred to as a hutch, or press cupboard. The description 'boarded' refers to the manner of construction, i.e. put together with oak boards and fixed with old fashioned nails. The period style butterfly hinges were hand-forged by our blacksmith. The hand carved tracery devices are pierced right through, for ventilation, as they would have been in the Tudor period. Bespoke made for our Kent clients, who are using it as a kitchen storage cupboard, and shown here in our 'Old Flaxen' colour.
